It’s been nine months. Nine long months with these people in the house. They don’t go out as much as they used to. It’s like the world stopped on its axis and burdened me with their presence…in perpetuity. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love them. Love them for real. My food is still here. They play with me whenever. it’s cool…But I need my space, too. I have unencumbered access to this entire house for almost 9 hours a day while they work. It’s calming and freeing. But now they’re just…home. Whatever COVID is, must be world dominating because no one wants to see it. They wear masks to protect themselves, they’re cleaner than normal, and everyone stays far away. They don’t even pet me the same. Whoever COVID is needs to go. I’m sure they’d love it.
And then I can itch in peace.
